The Arenal Volcano, located inside the National Park with the same name, is a living mountain with an almost perfect cone of 1670 meters of altitude, which regular eruptions offer an extraordinary show to those who visit. Turning it into one of the principal tourist attractions of our country, the same as the town of La Fortuna.
Initiating it's activity on July 29th, 1968, the eruption divided it's crater in three. Then, after a long period of relative tranquility, the Arenal Volcano starts being active in the year 1981, maintaining itself until this moment, as the most active volcano of Costa Rica.
At its basis, lush flora and fauna is stored and its surroundings are full of recreative and eco-touristic activities, aside from spas and thermal waters. We can not forget about the majestic Arenal Lake, in which depths lay the towns of Old Arenal and Tronadora, that were sunken to give path to this artificial lake that provides electricity to a big part of the country. Also, in its waters, several adventure activities can be made like kayaking, sports fishing or simply a relaxing boat ride around it.
The Arenal Volcano is without a doubt a mandatory destiny in Costa Rica.
